County Forester Position Vacant - Lakeland District

 

The Lakeland District is currently seeking to fill the CFA Forester position that covers Polk, Hillsborough, and Pinellas counties.  This position is responsible for providing a wide variety of services that include private landowner assistance through forest management, cost share programs, urban forestry assistance, prescribed fire assistance, wildfire assistance, and forest education outreach programs to the public.  

Options for housing range from Lakeland to historic Bartow to the rural areas of southern Polk County.  Central Florida provides good employment opportunities for spouses as well.  In addition, Polk County provides a large variety of outdoor activities, entertainment, and cultural opportunities and is conveniently located between the large cities of Tampa and Orlando.

Dear FATA Members –
 
The State Fire Marshal will be hosting a workshop in Hillsborough County on April 5th regarding Rule 69A-67: Fire Safety Standards for Nonresidential Farm Buildings. 

Panelists will include representatives from the State Fire Marshals Office, FFMIA, the fire service lobbying community in Tallahassee and members of the Ag community. Topics include: Scope and definitions of the rule; Classification differences/why they were established; Inspection requirements and frequencies of inspection;  Discussion on means of egress/ use of large barn style doors;  Permitted uses and frequencies of use; and Can a local jurisdiction charge inspection fees?

Plan your Short Course schedule in advance! Choose the category at the top of the CEU breakdown chart and find the classes that provide the credits you need.

If you don't have a license, you will generally benefit from taking Session B courses and Plant ID and Calibration Training Sessions.

Taking a Certification Exam? Learn how to prepare and requirements.

A representative from the  Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services (FDACS) will be available at the Short Course to answer questions regarding CEUs and Florida licensing requirements.


You may only earn credit for sessions attended!
