Senior Vegetation Management Specialist (0749)

Sarasota Service Office, 6750 Fruitville Rd, Sarasota, Florida

 

DESCRIPTION:

This is a field position that is responsible for locating and controlling invasive plant infestations and related land management activities on District-owned conservation lands. Work includes using an ATV or truck mounted spray system or back pack sprayer while walking and documenting treatment status using GPS.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

A high school diploma and four years experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A current Pesticide Applicator license in the Natural Areas Weed Management, Aquatics or Right-of-Way category and herbicide application experience is required. Possession of a valid driver license is required.

One year of vegetation management experience is preferred. Invasive plant identification, outdoor work, GPS/GIS and boating experience is preferred. Controlled burning experience and certification is preferred.

Within one year from date of hire, the employee is required to successfully complete the District’s chainsaw, ATV, first aid and CPR courses.
