| From the Network ... Exciting Changes Coming to PMN This year marks a special new chapter in the Plant Management Network’s 14-year history. Next month, the Plant Management Network will undergo significant visual and functional changes, including: - A clean and functional homepage to help users browse and find information faster - A Twitter interface for users to follow and interact with PMN - Improved search capability - The launch of a new PMN Crop News resource which features news by category - New branding to credit the publishers of each resource - Journal platform upgrades that will offer more functionality for users and authors - A brand new look for the PMN Update newsletter Cristi Palmer Named PMN’s First Editor-in-Chief As part of a change in PMN’s editorial management structure, Cristi Palmer, now leads the Plant Management Network (PMN) as the first editor-in-chief of the newly formed PMN editorial board. She will establish and oversee the editorial board and have oversight responsibilities of the applied APS content within PMN as well as the management of its portal. Dr. Palmer’s experience in outreach as the Ornamental Horticulture Program Manager at IR-4 Project Headquarters at Rutgers and her tenure on the PMN Oversight Committee made her a strong candidate to lead PMN into this new era. Palmer earned her undergraduate degree and Ph.D. from Cornell University at Ithaca, and her M.Ag degree from University of Florida at Gainesville. PMN Journals Moving to New Platforms Starting in February, the Crop Management, Forage and Grazinglands and Applied Turfgrass Science journals will be branded and managed by the Alliance of Crop, Soil, and Environmental Science Societies (ACSESS). The Plant Health Progress journal will soon be published as a quarterly online journal in 2014 and is upgrading to the same platform as the American Phytopathological Society’s Plant Disease, Phytopathology, and Molecular Plant-Microbe Interactions journals. This will allow users to create a profile where they can sign up for article alerts and utilize other advanced features, including mobile formats, citation downloads, and social media tools. For authors, this means more discoverable articles, faster publication, citation tracking, and greater visibility through citation linking from other publications through CrossRef. Pamela Roberts is the New Plant Health Progress Editor-in-Chief Pamela Roberts has succeeded Ned Tisserat as Editor-in-Chief of Plant Health Progress (PHP) in 2014. Pam will oversee the PHP editorial board, which oversees publication of articles featuring extension and applied research. PHP serves an audience of plant health practitioners in public and private practice, as well as state, national, international regulatory officials, public policy makers, and the broader plant science community. She comes on to lead PHP as the APS journal makes the transition to the APS Journals online platform during the 2014 volume year. Roberts earned her undergraduate degree in horticulture from Kansas State University, her M.S. in plant pathology at the University of Hawaii, and her Ph.D. in plant pathology from the University of Florida.
