Pest Control Field Biologist - Seeds and Traits R&D Job
Description
Under the general supervision of the site Integrated Pest Management and Irrigation Leader, the Field Biologist will support the Integrated Pest Management and Irrigation Group activities to maintain control of pests and vigor in all crops to ensure production goals. The Field Biologist will help coordinating, planning and effectively conducting insecticide, herbicide, fungicide, and fertilizer applications. The Field Biologist will also assist in experiments as needed to improve pest control practices.
This position is located in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico.
Speaking fluently and writing in English and Spanish is essential.
Qualifications
- BS or MS degree in Agronomy, Biology, Entomology or Agriculture related field.
- Knowledge or coursework in Entomology, Weed Science, Plant Pathology, Soil Science and Statistics is desirable.
- Interpersonal communication and teamwork skills, conflict management, work accuracy, timeliness, and adaptability to change are essential. May be required to do physical lifting and work in varying ergonomic environments.
- Demonstrated personal leadership, interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to speak fluently read and writes in English and Spanish is required.
- Ability to take initiative and work effectively on teams.
- Must have enthusiasm and aptitude for learning and continuous improvement of critical research activities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work outside for extended periods of time during the growing season
