FW: Florida Small Farm Conference Farmer Award Application Deadline

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS -  IMPORTANT DEADLINE – Thursday April 25^th Last Day!!

          

It is my pleasure to announce the call for nominations for the 2013 Small Farms & Alternative Enterprises Conference Innovative Farmer Award.  This is your opportunity to nominate an outstanding small farmer/ rancher that deserves to be recognized as a role model for the other small farmer/ ranchers and attendees of the 2013 Small Farm and Alternative Enterprise Conference. 

 

The goal of the Award is to recognize farmers and ranchers who are leaders and innovators based on the following criteria:

 

ü  Achievement: Success in making farming systems more profitable over the long term.

ü  Innovation: Ability to use farming practices that enhance, rather than harm, natural resources.

ü  Leadership: Leading - or participation in - activities that support viable communities, either through economic development or contribution to regional food system.

ü  Outreach: Effective outreach and/or education about sustainable agriculture ideas and practices to others, such as producers, community leaders, agricultural educators and the general public.

 

The three most exceptional farmer and/or rancher nominations will be selected and will receive complementary registration and lodging for the 2013 conference.  In addition, the farmer/ rancher will be presented the 2013 Innovative Farmer Award at the Saturday luncheon. 

 

The nominations need to originate from UF IFAS Extension/ FAMU Extension. Application form should be filled out by the nominator with information from the farmer or by the nominee themselves.
