ARS posted a new issue of Healthy Animals, a semi-annual online newsletter that compiles ARS news and expert resources on the health and well-being of agricultural livestock, poultry and fish.

Repelling insects with breadfruit:
Breadfruit, used as a folk remedy in Pacific regions to control insects, is an effective mosquito repellent, USDA scientists have found. The researchers identified three breadfruit compounds-capric, undecanoic and lauric acids-that act as insect repellents. (11/15) http://www.ars.usda.gov/is/pr/2013/131115.htm
