USDA for Rural Renewable Energy Projects - If you have a rural customer who needs to purchase of a renewable energy system, or wants to make energy efficiency improvements, USDA has a grant/loan for that. It's called the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP). The grant/loan may be used for the purchase and installation of renewable energy systems –like solar, wind, hydro, or geothermal systems. Or, if your rural customer needs to finance energy efficiency improvements, such as insulation, new windows, lights, energy efficient well pumps, or energy efficient HVAC systems-the REAP Program can help make that happen.
This program offers grants, guaranteed loans, and combinations of grants/guaranteed loans to help agricultural producers and small businesses install renewable energy systems and make energy efficiency improvements to their facilities that are located in rural areas. Theresa Purnell, Energy Coordinator for the USDA’s Rural Development, will provide eligibility requirements, explain the application process, and describe the type and amounts of assistance that are available. For more information or questions you can contact Theresa Purnell at 352.338.3412 or LaTasha Pace, RD Davenport Area Office at 863-420-4833, ext. 104.
