Last Call CEUs offers CEUs in the following categories: 2 Core 2 General Household Pests 2 Lawn and Ornamental 2 Termite and Wood Destroying Insects CEUs are available Ala Carte - get only what you need or all. This event is hosted by the Florida Pest Management Association and will take place at the UF/IFAS Hillsborough County Extension Service from 9:00 am - 4:30 pm. This training and certification is required for all commercial companies (for hire) applying fertilizer to urban landscapes and includes those working for government entities. This program offers pesticide license CEUs. Hillsborough, Pinellas and Manatee Counties and the City of Tampa have Fertilizer Use and Landscape Management Ordinances currently in effect. Fertilizer Use and Landscape Management Ordinances, along with the GI-BMPs are designed to reduce non-point source pollution from urban stromwater run off and leaching. Improper landscape management practices, over-irrigation and improper fertilizer applications contribute to non-point source pollution. Renewable-Energy: Webinar on Risks and Returns

RISKS AND RETURNS ON RENEWABLE ENERGY Webinar on June 14 will help you decide what will work for your operation  As energy costs increase, so does farmers’ interest in using renewable energy sources instead of conventional energy sources.  Although many renewable-energy technologies are well established, reliable, and in some cases economical, there still are pitfalls to avoid. Balancing the benefits with the risks is crucial if the farmer is to end up having a positive experience with renewable-energy systems. “Risks and Returns on Renewable Energy Investments,” an upcoming webinar broadcast by the National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT), will give participants the tools they need to better evaluate whether renewable-energy systems are good investments for their operations. NCAT Energy Engineer Dave Ryan will be the webinar's presenter. The webinar is funded by the Southern Risk Management Education Center. Participants will learn how to find local resources to help with their renewable-energy buying decisions and equipment selection, as well as how to work with renewable-energy equipment suppliers. Participants also will get valuable information about available sources of funding: grants, loan guarantees, and tax credits available for installation of renewable-energy systems. Common renewable energy technologies will be discussed along with information about how to decide whether a renewable energy system will benefit your farm.  You will be able to post questions to the presenters to make this an interactive and informative webinar. About the presenter: Dave Ryan joined NCAT in 2004. He is a registered professional engineer and has many years of experience in energy conservation and renewable energy. Dave has helped develop many renewable energy projects and has incorporated many renewable energy systems in his own home. He is a founder of the Montana Renewable Energy Association and has been an officer and board member of that organization for more than 10 years. The webinar will be held Thursday, June 14, at 1 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.
