Vegetation Management Specialist – This is a field position conducting a variety of vegetation control work including using an airboat to treat targeted aquatic plants on lakes, rivers and canals, cutting and removing fallen trees, treating invasive plant populations on District managed conservation lands using ATV or truck mounted spray systems or back pack sprayer while walking. Mixes, measures, loads and safely applies herbicide products pursuant to label directions and calibrates application equipment. Identifies invasive plant species, conducts plant surveys and measures dissolved oxygen levels. Communicates directly with the public to explain and answer questions concerning the District’s vegetation management activities. Accurately completes associated paperwork. Operates and maintains assigned field equipment including boats, spray equipment and vehicles. Assist other staff with field work as necessary. Participates in District emergency management activities and other departmental activities and performs other duties as needed.
