Hello, members and supporters to the SW FL Small Farmers Network (SWFSFN). We are pleased to send you this announcement for those of you who are interested in pastured poultry enterprises – see attachment.
In case you have not heard, the long awaited Limited Poultry and Egg Farm Operation rule has been adopted! This rule establishes the regulatory parameters for a small scale, 'farm based food establishment'. It is limited to the provision of whole shell eggs and dressed poultry products only. Permitting By FDACS of Limited Poultry and Egg Farm Operations began in July 1, 2014.
This workshop is the first of three workshops planned to provide educational support to farms interested in starting a limited poultry and egg farm operation using whole farm planning. (Note: Workshops #2 and #3 will be offered in early 2015). Registration for this workshop is required and is limited to 25 persons.
This Workshop Part #1 will focus on production and business planning for chickens and turkeys. Here are the description and registration details:
