Natural Resources upcoming activities, EDRR reports, workshop presentations now available

Lots of activities coming up!  Here are some more:

·         5/3- Central Florida CISMA free Aquatics Workshop (flyer attached)- even if we don’t have the workshop, it’s available to you!

·         5/18- 4th annual Everglades CISMA Nonnative Fish Roundup in SE & SW FL, with prizes!:  http://www.evergladescisma.org/roundup/

EDDMapS seems to be gaining traction in our area. Here are some recent reports of note:

·         Argentine tegu reported in Winter Haven very nearby last April’s report with excellent photos showing it using a gopher tortoise burrow: http://www.eddmaps.org/county.cfm?sub=18346&id=us_FL_12105 . Tessie Offner, who spoke about her tegu work in Hillsborough County at our Central Florida Invasive Species Workshop in February, helped bring a trap and the homeowners have diligently set it daily, but the tegu has not been seen since. Tom Palmer printed a story Saturday, and you can help get the word out for people in the area to take a photo and report it if they see a tegu so it can be removed: http://www.theledger.com/article/20130405/NEWSCHIEF/130409439

·         Dead on road boa constrictor in DeSoto County: http://www.eddmaps.org/county.cfm?sub=18348&id=us_FL_12027

·         Cane toads in Lake Placid reported by Ridge Ranger Daniel Wilson: http://www.eddmaps.org/county.cfm?sub=12242&id=us_FL_12055

·         Invasive orchid reported growing out of mulch in Okeechobee County by schoolteacher via Extension Agent Dan Culbert (more details on FLEPPC list or contact me for them) http://www.eddmaps.org/distribution/point.cfm?id=2482748

You can sign up for EDDMaps Alerts yourself very easily and get email reports for your county, by species, or a number of ways: http://www.eddmaps.org/tools/ .
