New tool for rangeland restoration:
A new tool for guiding decisions about rangeland restoration is now available, thanks to mapping innovations developed by researchers at USDA. Fire ant venom eyed as natural fungicide:
Red imported fire ants are named for the fire-like burn of their sting. Now, the same venom that packs such a painful wallop may actually do some good for a change. USDA studies show that certain alkaloid compounds in fire ant venom can hinder the growth of key crop pathogen. (8/2) http://www.ars.usda.gov/is/pr/2013/130802.htm
