Battling pecan scab:
Adding nickel and phosphite to an existing fungicide spray regimen may help growers thwart pecan scab, a scourge to pecan growers in Georgia, according to USDA scientists. (8/19) http://www.ars.usda.gov/is/pr/2013/130819.htm

Stroke risk studied:
Preliminary research by USDA scientists and colleagues suggests that in some parts of South Carolina, the risk of stroke may be linked in part to regional soil characteristics.
