New FoodCorps Members

New Service Term Begins
A new crop of FoodCorps AmeriCorps members began a service term earlier this month that will continue through the summer of 2014.  NCAT manages FoodCorps efforts in the states of Arkansas, Iowa and Montana, with 22 members now stationed at host sites and ready to start the school year.  Each member will be working to help schools serve local, healthy foods; build and tend school gardens; and educate kids about how and why to eat food grown closer to home.  Read more...

Local Foods Efforts Increase

Producers and Institutions Working Together
Our Farm to Cafeteria Network addresses the challenges and opportunities facing producers and food service directors in bringing local foods to schools and institutions in Montana.  As part of this work, we recently hosted a meeting of the Beef to School coalition at our headquarters in Butte, to bring together ranchers, meat processors, the Office of Public Instruction, and non-profit group representatives.  Read more...
