Protecting soybeans from fungal attack:
A new laboratory technique developed by USDA scientists could speed the search for soybean plants with resistance to the fungus that causes Phomopsis seed decay (PSD) in the legume crop. (6/9) http://www.ars.usda.gov/is/pr/2014/140609.htm

Climate change and soybean production:
As future air temperatures increase due to climate change, soybean producers may see a corresponding increase in insects, weeds and fungal pests because of milder winter temperatures. One possible result: growers may need to increase their pesticide use to respond to these pests and maintain soybean production levels, according to a USDA study.
