Small producer grants

See my website- there is an extensive list of grants/loans – updated – including go to the usda know your farmer know your food site- they also have some grants there

There is a skewed perception that there are all kinds of grants, there has been an increase in grants for producers/agriculture, however, farmers must read very carefully because sometimes  a farmer is not eligible- only a non profit, coop, gov agency are eligible

Hi Crystal.  You have asked a “frequently asked” question.  You are probably right in assuming the main source is SARE.  However, I thought I would make an extra effort to put things together.  Those links are below, but often are more loan oriented than grant, but here they are.   I do see a trend of more opportunities for smaller producers and expect that to continue slowly. 

   Your question inspires me to wonder how we (SF&AE Focus Team) can best supply this info to everyone….on our SF web site. Via this email, I am asking Nola Wilson (Topic Team leader for the “Planning and Management” page on our SF&AE site) to consider adding a new heading/tab entitled “Grants and Loans”…or something like that.  Anyone want to help Nola put this together?

Some of the small producers in my county are continuously asking about available grant monies.  Are you aware of anything available to small producers besides the SARE producer grant?  I appreciate your help.
