2011 Tree and Landscape Short Course-Sustainable Urban Landscapes

1st Announcement for the 2011 Tree and Landscape Short Course

For more than 30 years the University of Florida IFAS and the Hillsborough County Extension Service have organized and presented a day long series of workshops on landscape maintenance and the care of trees and shrubs. Classes are taught by academic, government and industry leaders who provide the latest research and techniques for the landscape establishment and maintenance. We invite you and your staff to participate in the 2011 Tree and Landscape Short Course at the state-of-the-art Trinkle Conference Center in Plant City FL on February 18, 2011.

The programs are intended to provide practical and useable information and training that support technical and professional certification through the award of Continuing Education Credits from the International Society of Arboriculture (certified arborists), Florida Nursery Growers and Landscape Association (landscaping professionals) and Florida DOACS (pesticide operators). Each attendee can receive up to 6  ISA Certified Arborist CEUs. FNGLA and FDACS L&O , LLO , LCM , and O&T credits have been requested.

This year’s program is packed with hot topics on the minds of public and private landscape professionals. A quick review of the attached agenda (please see the attached) will provide you with a overview of this year’s topics and an appreciation for the quality of the instructors. We have added breakout sessions to allow participants a greater flexibility to focus on topics specific to their work responsibilities and to increase their ability to obtain the most appropriate CEUs.

Here at the UF IFAS/Hillsborough County Extension we realize that opportunities for training are severely constrained by tight budgets. To meet the challenge of making high quality training for landscape professionals available and accessible, the steering committee of the 2010 Tree and Landscape Short Course has worked to keep the registration fee down to $30 per person. The fee includes all materials, morning and afternoon breaks, and lunch.

Registration will be handled through an on-line service http://2011shortcourse.eventbrite.com  which will take most major credit cards. If your agency or company does not use credit cards to process payments and you need to pay by check or need to be invoiced up front please give me a call and we will work that out.

I look forward to seeing you at the 2011 Tree and Landscape Short Course ... Rob

"Conservation is not concerned only with the natural resources of the earth. Rightly understood, it includes also the relation of these resources and their scarcity or abundance to the wretchedness or prosperity, the weakness or strength of peoples, their leaning towards war or towards peace, and their number and distribution over the earth." Gifford Pinchot
