MGT 337 Agriculture & Food Vulnerability Course - February 8 & 9 - Plantation, Florida

Good Afternoon Agriculture and Environment Partners:

 

I wanted you to be aware of another upcoming training opportunity being offered in February in Plantation, FL.  The course is MGT 337 Agriculture and Food Vulnerability Assessment Training Course, offered by the University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine and sponsored by my Office. 

 

This course teaches participants how to use the Carver Plus Shock vulnerability assessment methodology to assess food and agriculture facilities.  It is a shortened version of the MGT 332 Course we offered in Boca Raton in August 2009, and identical to the course offered in Tallahassee earlier this month.

Agriculture & Food Vulnerability Assessment Training Course (MGT 337)


 

On Tuesday, February 8 and Wednesday, February 9, 2011, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Service’s Office of Agricultural Emergency Preparedness will host an Agriculture & Food Vulnerability Assessment Training Course (MGT 337) delivered by the Center for Agriculture and Food Security and Preparedness, through the University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine.  For additional course information, you may access the following link: http://www.vet.utk.edu/cafsp/FoodVulnerabilityAssessment/index.php .     

 

The course will be held at: The Broward County Emergency Operations Center, Room 332-B, 201 N.W. 84th Avenue, Plantation, Florida, 33324.    Directions and a map to the facility are attached hereto.                                                                                                      

When: Tuesday, February 8, 2011, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., 1-hour lunch break); February 9, 2011, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

 

Description:   This 1 ½ day free course is designed to assist food regulation, law enforcement, and industry personnel in the prevention and deterrence of terrorist and criminal acts that target the food industry. Participants will learn to use the CARVER + Shock method to perform detailed vulnerability assessments of agricultural facilities.  The realistic, hands-on training incorporates videos of actual facilities and interactive case studies with practical exercises. You learn to assess vulnerabilities on a community and individual facility level, and to identify and implement mitigation measures to reduce vulnerabilities.

 

Primary audience:    Personnel from agriculture and food industry; Law Enforcement and the Military; Emergency Management; Public Health; Federal, State, County & Local officials; extension and crop specialists; agricultural crime units and others involved with food and agriculture security planning.

 

Deadline to register for the course: January 31, 2011
