The most comprehensive genetic analysis ever of domesticated grape:
ARS scientists and their colleagues at a whole host of institutions have completed the most comprehensive genetic analysis to date of the domesticated grape, applying new technology to uncover a surprising degree of genetic diversity and fine-tune genetic markers that may lead to grapes better equipped to resist pests and pathogens that now prompt repeated spraying of grape crops. New strategies for more efficient beef production:

Citrus roots sending out their own SOS:
Substances released into the soil by citrus tree roots when chewed on by insect pests could lead to new ways of improving the effectiveness of roundworm "first responders," according to findings by ARS scientists and their university colleagues who identified several citrus chemicals, including terpenes, which attract Steinernema riobrave, Heterorhabditis indica and other beneficial nematode species that prey on citrus root weevils. National Agricultural Library releases its 2011 thesaurus of ag terms-in two languages:
ARS' National Agricultural Library has released the 2011 edition of its on-line Agricultural Thesaurus and Glossary, which adds 3,441 new terms and 321 definitions and has been especially expanded in areas associated with nanotechnology, food safety risk assessment and sustainable agriculture.
