Florida Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Grants and other

Folks on the SARE list might be interested in or know someone who would be interested in the Florida Native Plant Society's position announcement. FNPS seeks an Executive Director based in Florida to assist with furthering the mission, fundraising, and organizing the annual conference. FNPS is accepting applications now via email to vpadmin@fnps.org - DEADLINE for submission is Oct. 5, 2011. Position starts January (or possibly earlier).

Job Opening: Executive Director, Conservation Trust for Florida, Inc.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will plan, execute, and support CTF’s mission to protect agricultural properties and wildlife corridors in Florida. The Executive Director will be responsible for the management of staff and programs. The ED will also work with staff to develop land conservation solutions for landowners; including conservation easements. Applicant must be skilling fund-raising, organizational development, public relations, and administration. The ED is expected to have a passion for CTF’s mission to preserve Florida’s working lands. Organic Production Workshop

September 29, North Central Florida

The Family Garden Organic Farm in Bell, Florida will host an Organic Production Workshop 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sept. 29 that will provide practical information and advice about organic vegetable production systems and marketing opportunities for farmers seeking to learn and share knowledge about organic and sustainable farming. The Center for Environmental Farming Systems (www.cefs.ncsu.edu),  is a partnership between North Carolina State University (NCSU), North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T SU) and the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (NCDA&CS). Its mission is to develop and promote food and farming systems that protect the environment, strengthen local communities and provide economic opportunities in North Carolina and beyond.  CEFS includes a 2000 acre field research, extension, and education facility in Goldsboro, NC.  At the CEFS field facility, research extension, and education activities are integrated in several different ongoing projects.  An important component of CEFS is a 15-acre small farm unit that is used to teach and demonstrate organic and sustainable production practices to a wide variety of audience. 

Job Opening: Associate in Research Faculty, Water Atlas Program

University of South Florida, Tampa Campus

Due: November 1

The University of South Florida (USF) seeks a full-time (12 month) Associate in Research Faculty to lead the Water Atlas Program (www.wateratlas.org<http://www.wateratlas.org>) at the multi-disciplinary Florida Center for Community Design and Research. The Water Atlas Program goal is to utilize advances in information technology to assist with environmental assessment, mapping and management; and to provide public access to timely, quality-tested data and information related to water resources. This is a full-time research faculty position that will involve program development, grant-writing, project management, oversight of a team of professionals and students, public presentations, and authoring academic and/or professional publications. SEES postdoctoral fellows will receive up to 3 years of funding to conduct research, establish partnerships, and advance their professional development.
