11th Annual Soil and Water Science Research Forum

The purpose of this letter is to invite you to participate in the 11th Annual Soil and Water Science Research Forum (http://soils.ifas.ufl.edu/forum/) scheduled for September 10, 2010, in Gainesville, Florida.  The forum is designed to bring together representatives from state and federal agencies, and private industry, faculty and graduate students, and prospective students interested in soil, water, and environmental sciences. The forum will provide an opportunity for all interested in soil, water, and environmental sciences to interact with our students, faculty and administrators on campus.  Primary theme of 2010 SWSD Research Forum is “Soil, Water, and Public Health”.

 

Two distinguished speakers are scheduled to make presentations at the Research Forum.

Dr. Glenn Morris, Director and Professor, UF- Emerging Pathogen Institute.

Dr. Dr. Ian Pepper, Director, National Science Foundation- Water and Environmental

Technology Center, Director, Environmental Research Laboratory, University of Arizona

 

The Soil and Water Science Department (SWSD) faculty, staff, and students conduct research in several interdisciplinary programs including: biogeochemistry, ecology, environmental sciences, hydrologic sciences, water quality, carbon sequestration, sustainable plant productivity in agricultural and urban ecosystems.  Research efforts are organized into the following general areas: 1) Management of Water, Nutrients, and Pesticides, 2) Soil, Water, and Aquifer Remediation, 3) Carbon Dynamics and Ecosystem Services, 4) Soil and Landscape Analysis, and 5) Wetlands and Aquatic Systems.
