Cleaning the Chesapeake Bay-from space:

Current containers made from corn-based plastics literally can't take the heat of "hot-filling" with just-pasteurized products in food processing plants, but an ARS scientist and his industry collaborators are working to make corn-based plastics more heat-tolerant. (9/1)

New corn lines that resist fungal toxins:
Corn germplasm lines developed by ARS scientists are scoring high marks in field trials for resistance to aflatoxin produced by Aspergillus flavus and A. parasiticus fungi. (9/2)
