2011 Hydroponic Short Course

Hello Small Farms Conference Attendees,

If you are interested in learning about hydroponic greenhouses, techniques, and crops, this is a final reminder of a perfect opportunity for hands-on learning inside operating greenhouses.  The UF/IFAS North Florida Research and Education Center-Suwannee Valley (NFREC-SV) near Live Oak, FL will be holding a hydroponic short course March 14-15 or March 18-19, 2011.  The short course, “Starting a Successful Hydroponic Business,” will feature hands-on activities inside three greenhouses, a shade house, and an outdoor production area at the facility over two days.  There will also be an optional grower tour on March 15 or March 19 for each class. The topics to be covered include: business planning and developing a marketing strategy, growing transplants, selecting hydroponic systems, soilless media choices, irrigation and fertilizer, managing pests, and the production of several crops from microgreens to herbs to cut flowers to tomatoes.

Attached is a detailed press release for the class, which includes information as well as a registration form, prices, and where to send it.  Please note, any checks used for payment MUST be made payable to the University of Florida, otherwise we cannot accept them.

If you would like to attend this class, please contact me IMMEDIATELY, as we are in the final preparation stages and must get materials ordered for the correct amount of people.  Hope to see you there!
