Polk Small Farms Update

December 10, 2010

Dear Mary,

Hello out there!

Did you know growers are required to provide training to their workers on how to protect themselves from pesticides?

It's part of protections for agricultural workers called Worker Prtotection Standards or WPS and you may have seen a reference to this on pesticide labels (even if they are not restricted use).

This is a quick note to let you know we will offer a train the trainer program to help growers get the credentials they need to provide training to their workers on how to protect themselves from pesticides.  Note if you hold a pesticide applicator license you do not need this training as you are qualified to teach workers through your license.  Often farms would like to have another person on hand to deliver the training so office workers often attend.

This training is only offered twice a year here in Polk and not very often around the state so if you think you need it take a look below.
