Rice, Agriculture Program Leader and Sugarcane/Rice Extension Agent III; UF/IFAS Palm Beach County Extension Ron serves as a member of the UF/IFAS Sugarcane/Rice Focus Area Team, and coordinates with research/extension sugarcane faculty, growers, and industry leaders to deliver timely educational programming on topics such as sugarcane orange rust, green cane harvest, sugarcane N and P nutrition, sugarcane pests and control options, P-reduction BMPs, sugarcane variety improvement, restricted use pesticide and worker protection standard trainings, spray calibration workshops for ground and aerial applicators, and rice variety trials. Ron also gives Africanized honeybee safety awareness workshops and works with 4-H and other youth organizations to support interest in agriculture and science. He is currently Editor of the EDIS Sugarcane Handbook and enjoys his service to the ASSCT Florida Division Executive Committee. David Sui, Vegetable and Tropical Fruit Extension Agent II; UF/IFAS Palm Beach County Extension David is a member of the UF/IFAS Vegetable/Fruit Focus Area Team, he works closely with statewide research/extension faculty and local farmers to deliver educational workshops, demonstrations, and trainings on: Western Flower Thrip IPM (peppers); Sri Lanka Weevil IPM for fruit production; tomato post-harvest split disorder; variety trials (pepper, lettuce, basil, broccoli); weed/insect control studies (leafy greens); food safety & traceability training; soil fumigation alternatives; soil fertility and crop nutrition BMPs; sustainable and organic farming; and cold weather protection strategies for vegetables and tropical fruits. David co-authors the Florida Vegetable Production Guide Book and is Associate Editor of the Vegetarian Newsletter. David also supports vegetable/fruit gardening backyard hobbyists. Leslie Baucum, Regional Sugarcane/Agronomic Extension Agent II; UF/IFAS Hendry County Extension Leslie began his Extension career in 2005 and currently serves an area that covers parts of both the South and South-Central Extension Districts. He received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Mississippi State University. He moved to Florida in 1989 and worked in private industry for 14 years before joining UF/IFAS. He combines his experiences working in the private sector with his extension experience to provide meaningful programming to small and large producers alike. Leslie has been active with the IFAS Sugarcane Focus Area Team, The South Florida Beef Forage Program, has served on multiple FACAA committees and is currently serving as FACAA District V Director. Leslie was presented with the FACAA Early Professional Award at the Extension Professional Associations of Florida Annual Conference in August of 2010.
