TO: Interested Stakeholders and MS4 Permittees
FROM: Department of Environmental Protection
The Department announces the availability of a guidance document to assist local stakeholders in the implementation of fecal coliform TMDLs. This document titled “Implementation Guidance for the Fecal Coliform Total Maximum Daily Loads Adopted by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection” is available for download at http://www.dep.state.fl.us/water/watersheds/bmap.htm.
The document was developed from the Department’s experiences in collaborating with local stakeholders during Basin Management Action Plan (BMAP) efforts around the state. It provides useful information, training, document templates, and case studies for identifying sources of fecal coliform bacteria in your watersheds, through prioritizing impaired watersheds for implementation, determining appropriate management actions to address those sources, guidance in expanding or beginning water quality sampling, and developing an implementation plan.
