Greetings 2011 Aquatic Weed Control Short Course Participants!
www.conference.ifas.ufl.edu/aw
Following are a few updates and reminders before you pack your bags and head to Coral Springs next week.
Final Program
If you have not yet viewed the schedule of events, it can be accessed through the Short Course web site. Here is the link for your convenience. http://www.conference.ifas.ufl.edu/aw/Detailed_Agenda.pdf
Registration and Short Course Identification
Your name badge will serve as your pass while attending the Short Course, so please be sure to pick it up at the registration office along with your materials, and wear it while attending all Short Course functions. If arriving Monday, you will want to pick up your name badge and materials Monday evening to avoid the Tuesday morning rush.
The Registration Office is located in the Palm Room on the First Level of the hotel in the Convention Center. Registration will be open from 3:30pm-7:00pm on Monday, 7:00am-5:00pm Tuesday through Wednesday and 7:00am-12Noon on Thursday.
Short Course Dress Code
There is no official dress code for the Aquatic Weed Control Short Course. Each Short Course day is filled with presentations so be sure to wear clothing that is comfortable. Jeans are perfectly acceptable for this training. Please keep in mind that meeting rooms tend to be on the chilly side and that a light jacket may be a good thing to bring along. Some special sessions will be held outside, and sunscreen or protective clothing is recommended.

Applicator Resources
Pesticide application is regulated by the federal and state governments. In an effort to provide convenient and quick access to several state and federal resources, the Short Course organizers have compiled a list of applicator resources. Click Here to view: http://www.conference.ifas.ufl.edu/aw/resources.html Please note that this webpage will be taking the place of the rules and regulations previously printed in the short course materials.
Speakers
Don’t forget to bring your presentation in advance (preferably the day prior) to the Short Course registration office for loading and to ensure that you are comfortable with the equipment and setup. (Tuesday AM presenters can bring their talk in Monday evening from 3:30pm-7:00pm). If you would like a refresher about the presentation set up, click on the following speaker link. http://www.conference.ifas.ufl.edu/aw/spkrinst11.pdf
Photocopying
If you plan to distribute copies of anything to Short Course participants, we recommend you bring a sufficient supply with you - we expect about 400 attendees. There is a business service office available at the hotel, but charges for photocopies are expensive, so you may want to print copies ahead of your arrival.
Moderators
This is a reminder that the moderator meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 2, 2011, 7:15pm – 7:30pm. Please attend this meeting if you are at the hotel. If you arrive later, please be sure to touch base with me to obtain any updates and announcements, and review the setup for your session. Simply ask the Short Course staff to radio me when you arrive.
That's it for now. If you have any questions, feel free to email me, but please do so before 2:00pm on Friday, April 29. Otherwise, see you at the Short Course and have a safe trip!
Cheers,
Jhanna
