Food Safety Workshop

Mark your calendars for Food Safety Training for Fruit and Vegetable Producers on April 22 at Gulf Coast Research and Education Center from 8:30am-4:30pm

In order to comply with T-GAPS and T-BMPs, Florida tomato growers and packers are required to complete an annual Good Agricultural Practices course.  Although training is not yet required for other commodities, it may become mandatory soon. Upon course completion, certification is issued to all attendees. A team led by Keith Schneider from the Food Science and Human Nutrition Department at UF will be conducting the training and  providing materials free of cost to growers, including laminated hand washing posters, flip charts, and training DVDs in both English and Spanish.  They are able to provide the materials because of a funding grant that ends this June.  Come get certified and get some of those food safety questions answered.

For more information or to register visit: http://ufgapstraining.eventbrite.com/

Be sure to register as space is limited. Materials may not be available to those who do not register.

A registration fee of $20.00 per person will be collected at the door. Please bring cash or make checks payable to Manatee County Friends of Extension.

Certified Crop Advisor CEUs are available as follows:

2 Pest Management, 1 Crop Management, and 1 Professional Development
