I have attached an announcement about the upcoming Specialty Fruit and Nut Best Management Program (BMP) Field Day at Sunnyridge Farms in Haines City on Tuesday, October 25, 2011. Participation in a BMP plan gives growers presumption of compliance, should area water systems be deemed “impaired” by pollutants. With the looming EPA Numeric Nutrient Criteria for Florida waters and other regulatory concerns, we encourage growers to participate in BMP programs.
This field day will cover the Specialty Fruit and Nut BMP program for producers of tropical, deciduous fruit and nut crops. Topics will be how to sign up, cost share potentials and hands on demonstrations covering some of the key practices in the program.
As you will note on the brochure, it is necessary to pre-register for the field day by going to the following link: http://www.eventbrite.com/event/2228856570 . After registering, print your ticket, as this will be your lunch ticket.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Gary K. England
